Good day everyone and welcome to all our new members,
We continue to scour the markets for companies that present with the opportunity for near-term gains. Companies that are undervalued or oversold, and companies with new tech on the verge of coming to market.
We will issue a report tomorrow at market open on a company we’ve covered before. It’s a company we believe is undervalued with a solid product line. In the past the company has generated some good near-term gains for our members.
Do you Consider ESG Criteria Before you invest in a Company?
We are watching a trend toward investment in companies that display environmental, social and governance metrics or ESG. We can see companies in varying sectors recognizing the trend and adapting their models to comply.
Environmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature. Social criteria examine how it manages relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where it operates. Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits, internal controls, and shareholder rights.
New generations of investors expect more from the companies they invest in. We’ve talked about the massive amounts of money being poured into the economy by our government and the pending “infrastructure” bill, which could be a trillion-dollar package, is a big part of that.
Some are calling for that investment to be a “green deal”, but we think the message is more that Americans want it to be an ESG deal. Mutual funds and brokerage firms now offer products that employ ESG criteria. ESG criteria can also help investors avoid companies that might pose a greater financial risk due to their environmental, social or governance practices.
Investors today still look for the fundamentals they always have as to financial metrics, but they are drawn to companies exhibiting the power of tech-driven eco-friendly verticals that are friendly to humans and the world we live in.
Elon Musk recently made the ESG point when he bailed on his Bitcoin position stating that Bitcoin mining was a using massive amounts of energy creating a detriment to our planet and people. It is possible that ESG criteria are more than just a trend and that all CEOs should look at the impact of their decisions in the ESG light.
Stay tuned and stay informed.
