The third quarter 2022 is behind us and many investors are saying “thank goodness.” The past two months have been dismal for most equities investors but let’s hope Q4 2022 is better. We do have some events forthcoming that could impact the stock market. The Fed will meet again in November to consider whether to raise interest rates once again or leave them as they are.

 

Certainly, the mid-term elections next month will impact all financial markets one way or another. For the next month investors will be inundated with corporate earnings reports and investors tend to place a lot of importance on earnings reports to develop their appetite for risk.

 

Data from the government on inflation, unemployment and other financial aspects of the economy will keep coming. On the bright side, it’s possible that the impact of unwelcome news has already peaked, and investors won’t further react to it. Another piece of data to consider is that since 1928, the S&P 500 has gone up 73% of the time in the fourth quarter.

 

I want to talk a bit about a NYSE company that is new to our group. This company is in the tech sector, their products lead the market they are in, and they have customers whose names you will immediately recognize. Their products are an integral part of some of the world’s most advanced technologies.

 

Small share structure, growing revenues, high insider ownership, and a strong cash position are just some of the attributes I like about this company in addition to their technology.
